After more than 40 years of dedicated service in dermatology, Dr. Loren Funt will officially retire from Mt. Lebanon Dermatology Associates on November 1, 2025.
Dr. Funt is a board-certified dermatologist and the founding physician of Mt. Lebanon Dermatology Associates, PC (MTLDA).
Since establishing the practice, he has been an integral part of its growth and success, caring for generations of patients with compassion, skill, and commitment. His influence extends beyond the exam room as his dedication to advancing dermatology in Pittsburgh has shaped both the practice and the wider medical community.
A Distinguished Career
Dr. Funt earned his medical degree from George Washington University Medical School, graduating from a combined 3-year college and 4-year medical program. He went on to complete his internship at the VA Hospital in Washington, DC, and his dermatology residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan, an institution affiliated with the University of Michigan.
Over the course of his career, Dr. Funt served as an assistant professor of dermatology at UPMC for more than 20 years, where he mentored and trained future dermatologists. He also lectured at prestigious institutions, including the University of Michigan, Mt. Sinai Medical Center in New York City, and Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem.
A Lasting Legacy
Dr. Funt’s dedication to patient care, education, and the advancement of dermatology has left a lasting legacy in the Pittsburgh medical community. Beyond his professional achievements, he is known for the genuine compassion and commitment he has shown to his patients throughout his career.
Dr. Funt resides in Mt. Lebanon with his wife, Jackie, and their two dogs. Together, they have raised four children and are the proud grandparents of five. As he transitions into retirement, his family, colleagues, and patients celebrate an outstanding career built on knowledge, kindness, and service.

While Dr. Funt moves into this next chapter, Dr. Jeremy Udkoff and the entire medical team at Mt. Lebanon Dermatology Associates remain committed to carrying forward his legacy of excellence.
